On September 18-20, 2026, I will travel with my University of North Texas second-year MFA film team to Galveston Island to create 'The Ripple Effect.' This documentary will highlight the incredible work of Waves of Impact, an organization where volunteers host adaptive surf camps for children with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other significant special needs. These volunteers come from all over the country, giving their time and energy to create an experience these kids might not otherwise have. The impact goes far beyond the waves—it stays with these families for a lifetime.
We are fortunate that the university is providing us with professional equipment and resources to bring this film to life. However, we still need help covering travel from Denton to Galveston, lodging, and meals for a full weekend of filming. Our passionate, pro-bono team is giving their time to tell this story the right way, and your support helps make that possible.
If you’re able, please consider donating. Every bit helps us move closer to the shore and share a story that matters. Thank you for being part of it.
