To everyone reading this, we are the Adaminaby Bowling & Sports Club Ltd, and we are reaching out to our community and beyond with heavy hearts. This is not about funding renovations; this is a plea for survival. We need your help to keep our doors open.
Since 1968, we have been a cornerstone of the new town of Adaminaby, welcoming countless individuals and supporting successful bowling teams. Over the years, our club has evolved into more than just a bowling club—it has become a central hub for friends, families, and visitors to gather.
We never imagined we'd be in this position, but we are now asking for your financial assistance. We know times are tough for everyone, but our club holds a special place in the community. From the outside, it may seem like everything is fine, but the past five years have been exceptionally challenging. Factors contributing to our financial struggles include:
- Significant theft by former staff (now criminally charged)
- Limited trading and patronage due to COVID-19
- Bushfire damage to Selwyn Snowfields, leading to low tourist numbers
- Poor snow seasons reducing skier visits
- Snowy 2.0 project initially boosting business but ultimately causing a housing shortage and a decline in local patronage.
Our new Board of Directors is working diligently to implement policies and procedures that will ensure our club’s viability. We are also exploring ways to enhance the community and visitor experience through events and, with volunteer help, potentially giving the club a fresh look.
To clarify, our current cash flow is better, but this appeal addresses the historical debt that has accumulated. We have tried every other avenue of financial assistance and have spent countless hours and sleepless nights seeking solutions. Now, we turn to you for help.
Despite these challenges, we continue to support our community with weekly events and live entertainment because these activities bring us together. We would rather close our doors than stop these vital parts of our club.
We aim to raise $100,000 to significantly reduce our debt and give ourselves the best chance of survival. Asking for help has been incredibly difficult, and we have delayed this plea for as long as possible. If the Adaminaby Bowling & Sports Club means as much to you as it does to us, please help us fight for its future. Even a small donation of $5 will make a tremendous difference.
