My name is Ellen Meyer, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for my family. We are preparing for a second trial in my husband’s self-defense case, after the Commonwealth’s Attorney failed to get a conviction the first time due to a hung jury.

On New Year’s Day 2024, in the early hours of the morning, our lives changed forever. What started as a quiet night turned into a nightmare when two drunk men came to our home, trespassing on our property and became aggressive. Kris went outside with the intention of diffusing the situation being respectful and non-aggressive while wearing his boxers, a shirt and socks. I was terrified — I was pregnant, defenseless, and watching the situation spiral out of control. I saw my husband be assaulted, heard him be told he should have “died in that war”, be called horrible names, ridiculed for being a disabled combat veteran and threatened to have his jaw broken. The more aggressive man repeatedly screaming about his blood gang affiliation and even tried to lure me outside by screaming “come outside whore.” I saw and heard those things first hand.

My husband did what he’s always done — he protected me & our daughters. In a moment of chaos and fear for his life, after being told “I’m gonna get my gun, kill you and rape your pregnant wife”, he acted to keep me, and our unborn daughter safe. He justifiably disabled the threat. Afterward, he immediately called for help and even provided medical assistance to the person who was injured. That’s the kind of man he is — even in crisis, he still helped to save a life. Again, the life of a man who had just threatened to kill him and rape me. Within days of this incident, the man who threatened us started an ongoing harassment campaign to the point that we filed for a protective order and we were granted one. He has violated it multiple times, with 2 convictions for some of those violations, including being caught with a firearm after being told he could not have one. In an effort to protect ourselves and prevent any further harassment, we made the difficult decision to sell our home and relocate from the area.

This journey has been long, painful, and financially exhausting for our family. Kris has always stood up for what’s right, and now we’re fighting to make sure he has the strong legal defense he deserves. No one should have to face this battle alone. My husband has served his country honorably and has lived his life with integrity. Watching him go through this — knowing the toll it’s taking on him and on our family — has been heartbreaking. We’re doing everything we can to hold on, but the financial strain of ongoing legal fees has become more than we can handle alone.

We believe in his innocence and in the truth—but we also know that justice takes resources. Every donation, every share, and every prayer helps us take one step closer to making sure his voice is heard and his rights are protected.
