For the past two Saturdays, I've had the honor of working with a small, resilient community in the heart of the Thika slum in Kenya. A place where survival is daily, but so is hope.

Every Saturday, we feed 80 children for just $30. These kids come from families who often can’t afford school fees, or whose home situations force them into unsafe environments, including some where sex work is taking place. This gathering isn’t just a meal; it’s safety, structure, and a few hours of dignity in a world that doesn’t always offer it.

What makes this community even more inspiring is their resourcefulness. They started a barber shop, and the small income it generates goes straight into funding food for the kids. But after 3 years of constant use, their hair clippers finally gave out. They’ve now been without working tools for over 6 months, and the income, and with it, the support for these children, has stopped.

I’m raising funds to:

Build more benches and seating areas for the kids to eat and learn.

Purchase new hair clippers (durable, professional-grade) so the barber shop can reopen.

Support weekly meal programs that feed 80 children.

Sustain a safe haven for kids who have nowhere else to go.

A little goes a long way here:

$30 feeds all 80 kids for one Saturday.

$75 can buy a high-quality hair cutter.

$300 keeps the program running for a full month.

This partnership means a lot to me personally and to the mission of my nonprofit. It’s not just about charity; it’s about standing beside people doing the hard work on the ground. They have the vision. They just need a little help.
