Hi, we’re Kedi and Jasmine and we’re currently in Nairobi for two weeks, volunteering at Glad Kids School and working with the Acts of Compassion Foundation to support children living in the Kibera slums – the largest informal settlement in Africa.
Why we are here:
The schools in Riruta lack basic supplies such as books, pencils, textbooks, and even teachers, with a large population of their students travelling from the local slums. For many children here, the free meals they receive at school are their only source of nutrition. This service, however, is reliant on donations and contributions from volunteers like us. The Kibera slums face unimaginable challenges: widespread poverty, limited access to clean water, sanitation, and education, and daily struggles with hunger.
We’re raising funds to support:
* School supplies – pencils, books, erasers, and learning materials to empower education.
* Food relief for families in Kibera facing urgent need.
* Donations to school fees
How You Can Help:
Your donation will be used to purchase school supplies, contribute towards school fees, as well as purchasing food in which we will cook and hand out to the children of the Kibera Slums our selves. Any remaining donations received as we are due to depart Kenya (on the 28th May) will go directly to the Acts of Compassion Foundation, a registered Kenyan charity, and will make an immediate difference.
Together, we can create real change — one meal, one schoolbag, one child at a time.
Please donate and share today.
With gratitude,
Kedi & Jasmine
