A dream is becoming a reality. We’re almost there!
Since 2014, The Soup Kitchen has been serving low- to moderate-income families (sick and shut-in, widows, seniors) and underserved individuals in communities throughout Berkeley County.
Initially, soup was served four days a week (Mondays-Thursdays) from October to May. Due to the growing needs, the kitchen is now open 12 months during the year, 4 days a week from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. In addition, visitors take home fresh vegetables, fruits, and non-perishable items, providing access to nutritious food beyond the soup being served onsite.
The appliances and equipment used to prepare and serve food are outdated and storage space is inadequate. We need a fully-equipped commercial kitchen. We applied for and received a grant to begin Phase 1—the construction of the soup kitchen. We have contributed over $100,000 toward the project. However, we still do not have adequate funding to complete Phase 2—equipment and supplies. We need your help!
The new soup kitchen will provide opportunities for increased productivity and efficiency. It will continue to be a place where anyone in need can find warm-hearted volunteers serving free meals to stimulate the mind, body, and soul without discrimination or judgement. Our mission will remain a top priority—serving people in need!
Please support our mission by making a one-time or monthly donations. All donations will be used to purchase commercial equipment, supplies, and food for the kitchen. We will be most appreciative of your support and your financial contribution.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17
