Combat Period Poverty by Empowering Girls in Tanzania
Donation protected
Imagine missing a week of school every month just because of your period. In Tanzania, for thousands of girls, this is a harsh reality. SIMpowering is here to make sure no girl has to choose between managing her period and attending school. We’re providing menstrual hygiene education, access to sanitary products, and support for both girls and boys in local schools near Lake Victoria, Tanzania. Our Project:
As part of our master's program at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, we launched SIMpowering, a social initiative to tackle period poverty and empower young girls in Tanzania. Many girls miss 3-5 school days each month due to a lack of menstrual products, disrupting their education and potential. To address this, we provide inclusive education for boys and girls to break the stigma around menstruation and promote understanding. Additionally, we support students in creating their own reusable menstrual pads by providing sewing machines and training, ensuring a sustainable solution that help girls manage their periods and continue their education confidently.
Who We Are :
SIMpowering is an initiative born from the SIMagination Challenge at the University of St. Gallen’s Strategy and International Management Master Program. We are a passionate team of students dedicated in making a positive impact by removing barriers to education. With our expertise and commitment, we collaborate closely with local communities to promote gender equality, educational access, and the empowerment of girls through menstrual health initiatives.
Our Goals:
- Education: Run workshops that teach both girls and boys about menstrual health, breaking down cultural barriers and building a foundation for understanding and equality.
- Access: Distribute essential menstrual products to girls and build a sustainable supply chain for long-term access to period products.
- Gender Equality: Involving boys is key to normalizing menstruation and fostering mutual respect within the community.
Your Impact:
Your donation will support school supplies, workshops and provide sewing machines to the school! We’ll ensure that every franc is maximized to make a lasting difference in these students’ lives.
Help Us Reach Our Goal:
Join us in changing lives by donating today to SIMPowering. Together, we can create a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education. Every contribution counts!
