Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC was formed in August 2025, but the people behind it have been part of the Bridgwater community for much longer.
Between our directors we bring years of experience working locally alongside lived experience of many of the challenges faced in our community — including poverty, domestic violence, mental health struggles, caring responsibilities and family loss.
Sedgemoor Community Connector was created because we recognised a clear need in our town for spaces where people could come together, support each other and access help when they need it most.
Since launching we have been delivering community drop-ins, peer-led groups and practical support across Bridgwater. Over the winter months alone we have:
• Provided more than 300 hot meals
• Distributed 50 warm bags to people struggling with the cost of living
• Served what sometimes feels like a million cups of tea
Along the way we have laughed, cried and celebrated small wins together with our community, sharing the ups and downs of everyday life.
We have also been working with fantastic local partners including SASP, Bridgwater Town Council, Abri Housing, LiveWest, Homes in Somerset, Village Agents, NHS Somerset and Public Health to bring support directly into communities in places that feel welcoming and accessible.
Our Vision
From the very beginning, our long-term vision has been to create a community hub in the centre of Bridgwater — a place where people can connect, find support and feel part of something positive.
Thanks to the belief and generosity of a local donor, that vision is now becoming possible much sooner than we ever imagined.
We are now working to create Bridgwater Community Hub — a welcoming space where people can:
• enjoy affordable food and drink
• meet others and reduce loneliness
• access support and advice
• take part in community activities
• use free internet access
• browse affordable preloved items
• join group sessions for adults, families and neurodivergent community members
We believe strong communities are built in simple everyday moments — over a cup of tea, a shared meal, a conversation or someone taking the time to listen.
This hub will create a space where those moments can happen every day.
What We Need Help With
Right now, the space we have secured is an empty shell and we have a very limited budget to get it ready.
To open the hub by early summer we need help from our community and local businesses to transform the space.
We are currently raising funds to help provide:
• A functioning kitchen
• Kitchen equipment
• Dining tables and chairs
• Clothes rails for our affordable preloved section
• Shelving and storage
• Comfortable seating for the community area
Every donation, large or small, will help us create a welcoming space that belongs to the community.
How You Can Help
If you are able to support us, your donation will help bring Bridgwater Community Hub to life and create a space where people feel welcome, supported and connected.
If you cannot donate right now, sharing this page helps enormously.
Together we can create something truly special for Bridgwater.
Thank you for supporting our community.
