I'm creating this account for my dad,a man who means the world to me and who has been through more in the past three months than most of us could ever imagine. It's been an incredibly difficult journey, and we're reaching out for help because we truly can't do this alone. At the end of September, dad was admitted to the hospital for infections in both of his feet. What started as a manageable issue quickly spiraled out of control. We found out his congestive heart failure progress to start 3 and was on the border for stage 4. He came home after being treated, but just two weeks later, we learned he needed to have two toes on his left foot removed. At the same time, he was waiting to have a pacemaker and ablation to hopefully fix the misfiring in his heart, and stop the fluid build up from the congestive heart failure. When we went back to the hospital, we were hit with more devastating news- his left leg , from the hip down was calcified. The hospital had missed this earlier and while they tried to perform a procedure to fix it, it wasn't entirely successful. The blockage in his thigh was treated, but below the knee, things were so bad that only partial work could be done. We knew then that more surgeries were likely. Then came another blow: his foot wasn't healing after the removal of the toes. We had to make the heart breaking decision to amputate his foot and part of his leg below the knee. It was devastating for all of us, but Dad handled it with strength I didn't know was possible. Even after the amputation, the challenges kept coming. His heart started misfiring again, so they adjusted medication hoping that would help. Then, just weeks after being discharged, he begun struggling to breathe. His lung disease had worsened and fluid had built up, causing his lung to fail. He had to be put on a machine to help him breathe. Thankfully, he rallied enough to have the fluid removed- 1400 cc from one lung-bur it was clear that time was running out to get the pacemaker and ablation he desperately needed. Despite all this, more obstacles arose. A UTI, and then the heart medication caused his blood pressure to drop dangerously low, and his surgery for the pacemaker was cancelled because he was no longer an admitted patient. After many tears and endless fighting with the hospital, we finally got the surgery rescheduled. I sat in the waiting room for seven long hours, praying for good news. When the doctors came out, they said he made it through, but his heart was weak, only functioning at 23 percent, compared to normal 50-70 percent. To protect him, he was given a life vest to shock his heart in case it went into a dangerous rhythm, but the vest caused welts and couldn't wear it. How, he's home, but ever day is a battle. His blood pressure drops often because of the heart medication, and his strength his limited. Yet, he fight. He pushes through every challenge with determination that humbles me. This is where we need your help. The medical bills are mounting, and the prosthetic he needs to walk again isn't fully covered by insurance. He'll need months of physical therapy, all of which we'll have to pay out of pocket. On top of that, we're covering the cost of all his supplies -pads,wipes,creams,commode necessities and his strict no-salt diet requires special food that I prepare ever night. We also need to hire a nurse because he his chair bound and can not move by himself. My dad has given so much to others and to this country. He's never been one to ask for help, but this time, he truly needs it. Your donation, no matter the size, will help us provide the care, therapy, and supplies he needs to heal and move forward. Every dollar makes a difference in giving my dad the chance to rebuild his life and regain some independence. Thank you so much for taking the time to read his story. Your generosity, prayers, and kindness mean the world to us during this incredibly hard time. Together, we can give my dad the strength and support he needs to keep fighting.
