Help us continue the Lean On Me meal program

The Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange, a local Sacramento nonprofit, uses their industrial kitchen and volunteer corps to provide food to Sacramento experiencing increased food insecurity as a result of COVID-19. Specifically, we prepare and deliver hot, nutritious meals to unsheltered homeless individuals and low income seniors.
Since launching the Lean on Me meal program in July 2020, the organization has provided over 7,000 meals to unsheltered people and low-income seniors. In addition, we provide groceries to families having trouble making ends meet. This work is done entirely based on monetary donations, food donations, and volunteered time. Accordingly, the more donations we receive, the more meals we can provide! We're currently providing between 200 and 300 meals per week. However, the need is much greater.
With your donation, we can prevent more members of the community from going hungry. This program means a lot to all of us because it has really given us a sense of purpose and community during what would otherwise be a dark and isolating time. All money donated will go directly toward purchasing food and supplies for the 'Lean on Me' meal program. We are truly thankful for your support, it is very much appreciated and we are extremely grateful to donors like you who help us continue to make this program possible!
