My name is Sarah, and I’m reaching out with a story that’s close to my heart — and a very special opportunity to be a part of it.

My husband, Patrick, and I dated in high school, went our separate ways, and life happened. Years later, I found myself divorced with two very young children — and Patrick reentered my life. This time, it wasn’t just me he fell in love with… it was my children, too. Watching him become the kind of father my kids deserved has been nothing short of incredible.

We got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2024, planning to marry in March 2026. But in March 2025, our lives took a surprising turn. The children’s biological father contacted me and expressed his desire to terminate his parental rights — and gave his full support for Patrick to adopt the kids.

It was unexpected and emotional, but we knew we had to do what was right for our children.

We immediately contacted an attorney who laid out the process:

1. Get married.

2. Have the biological father sign an affidavit to relinquish rights.

3. Finalize the adoption.

So… we got married as soon as we could!

The affidavit was drafted and legally signed. The final step is officially completing the adoption.

Why We’re Fundraising

Even though the adoption process is straightforward, it still involves legal fees and paperwork. We’ve been doing everything we can to make it happen — but we could use a little help to move forward more quickly.

That’s why we’re launching an “Adopt a Puzzle Piece” fundraiser.

We’ve chosen a puzzle that symbolizes our family. Each piece represents someone who helped complete our story. For every $10 donated, your name (or a word of encouragement) will be written on the back of a puzzle piece. When all the pieces are filled in, we’ll frame the puzzle as a lasting reminder of the love and support that helped build our family.
