Help us complete our new Museum Exhibition Hall

The Fife Heritage Railway (FHR) has been successful in obtaining a major grant from the Levenmouth Reconnected Programme (LRP) to build a new Exhibition Hall at our site at Kirkland Yard, Leven. This grant amounts to £360k and represents 75% of the total needed for the project (£480k). The remaining 25% (£120k) needs to be found through match funding, which is the reason for this appeal to you.

The Exhibition Hall will be a game-changer for the FHR and the local community. It will allow us, for the first time, to bring our stock of historic railway vehicles under cover. This will not only protect and conserve these valuable historic artefacts, but also enable us to properly display them for the enjoyment of the public.

The Exhibition Hall will have some 1200sq m of floorspace and has been designed to be multi-purpose. The railway stock can be readily removed to allow use by the wider community for displays, events, exhibitions, farmers’ markets, etc.

A plan of the building is shown and work is well advanced to meet local authority planning requirements.

This project is part of a strategic plan to provide Levenmouth with a major visitor attraction that will make the most of the new rail link, which is already having a positive impact. The Exhibition Hall will form a key component of our new visitor facility complex, which will open soon with a community café, bookshop, museum and large model railway exhibition.
