Here in the village school has closed for the summer and our summer camp has officially begun!

Before we started our summer program, summer break was a dreaded time for these kids. It meant little or no food, and often the children were out on the streets while their parents/family members worked or looked for work. Summer was unsafe and unstructured, and kids were just waiting to get back to school.

Our summer camp program is life-changing. While providing nutritious meals for everyone is our top priority, our summer program also includes much-needed enrichment programs and activities. Our kids receive academic support such as English and math tutoring, art and music classes, and sports and games. We keep the kids safe, give them structure, and keep their tummies and minds full.

The children are with us full-time in the summer We feed them three meals a day, 7 days a week, for the ten weeks of summer break. In total, we feed 130 children and 26 staff three times a day, every day!

As you can imagine, all of this is tremendous financial challenge and we need your help. In addition to the cost of food, there are tutors, teachers, and coaches to be paid, as well as supplies and equipment needed throughout the summer.

Our goal of $5000 won't cover all the costs of our summer camp program, but it will help tremendously. Any donations above our goal will also be used to fund food, programs, and staff salaries.
