Help Us Give Hope to the Children of Soweto Slum, Nairobi. Support Gabrielle, Jesse, Mama Alice & dedicated staff in Building a Future Rooted in Love. We are currently on the ground in the heart of Soweto Slum in East Nairobi, Kenya, volunteering with Smart Angels Community Center and Mum’s Love Children’s Home a registered NGO in the Republic of Kenya. What brought us here was a desire to serve, but what we’ve found is something far more powerful: a dedicated cause that loves fiercely, despite having so little.

At the center of it all is Mama Alice M. Kanini, known affectionately as Mama Alice, a woman who has dedicated her life to restoring dignity and hope where it was all but lost. She is the beating heart of Soweto. Through her tireless devotion, over 200 students at Smart Angels and 44 orphaned or abandoned children at Mum’s Love are not only surviving but beginning to thrive.

We’ve seen firsthand what love, structure, and education can do in a place where poverty and hardship have cast long shadows. The children here come from deeply vulnerable backgrounds but in Mama Alice’s care, they find food, education, safety, and most of all, belonging. Still, the fear exists everyday that the doors of Smart Angels and Mum’s Love may close. Funding and support is desperately needed and needed now.

We’re working alongside this incredible team to both support and expand these life-changing programs. With your help, we hope to raise $50,000 USD to:

• Continue providing daily meals to 200+ students and 44 resident children

• Sustain the food outreach program for 150+ street-connected individuals

• Cover ongoing needs: utilities, rent, school supplies, and uniforms

• Expand classrooms and build a computer lab for digital literacy

• Hire more teachers and staff to keep up with growing enrollment

• Ultimately Secure and purchase permanent land and a school building

Education: Textbooks, pencils, backpacks, and classroom furniture

Nutrition: Maize flour, rice, milk, and other staples for daily meals

Hygiene: Soap, sanitary towels, toothpaste, and other essentials

Clothing: School uniforms, shoes, warm jackets for cold mornings

Infrastructure: A permanent home for learning, shelter, and hope.

There is no middle man in this endeavor. 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to Mama Alice’s programs.
