Location: Kafue, a town on the outskirts of Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia.

Our Story: Our previous school bus, a resilient companion for the past 23 years, has gracefully carried generations of students. However, it's time to bid farewell as it retires after countless breakdowns and repairs.

The Need: A new bus isn't just a mode of transportation; it's a key to empowerment. It ensures our students have safe, reliable access to education, extracurricular activities, and a world of possibilities.

Imagine the impact a reliable school bus will have on the students' education! From field trips that broaden horizons to ensuring every student gets to school safely, to us, a bus is not just transportation-it is a gateway to opprotunities.

Understanding Our Community: In the last century, the Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) in Kafue played a vital role in the production of nitrogen-based fertilizers, contributing significantly to Zambia's agricultural sector. However, economic reforms, including the privatization of state-owned enterprises, led to changes in the industrial landscape. NCZ experienced a major slump, resulting in job losses for many in the town.

Today, Kafue is one of the poorest towns in Zambia, and the majority of our students' families, who once worked for NCZ, have faced economic hardships. Kafue Day Secondary School is a public school offering free education to children from various parts of Kafue town. Despite the free education, many students still struggle to afford books and school uniforms. They walk up to 5km every day in 40-degree heat to get to school, which isn't safe or healthy.

Challenges Faced by Students: The bus we aim to acquire will not only serve as transportation but as a lifeline for our students. It will ensure they arrive at school ready to learn, without the fatigue of a long walk in challenging conditions.
