A few days ago, we (HumanKind) knocked on doors at Sunvilla Retirement Village to deliver Christmas hampers to residents who often spend this time of year alone.
We expected smiles.
We didn’t expect tears, heartbreak...or this.
At Unit 6, we met a beautiful woman who lives with Parkinson’s. Everyday tasks are hard for her, but despite that, she has created something extraordinary inside this village.
She hosts morning teas.
She makes coffees for her neighbours.
She brings people together.
It’s her way of showing love. Her way of connecting in a place where loneliness is common.
When we asked her what she would love for Christmas, she didn’t hesitate.
Not for herself, but for everyone else.
She asked for a simple coffee machine with one easy button, so she can keep making coffees for the people who come to her door. So she can keep being the heart of this little community.
For many residents at Sunvilla, this coffee time is the highlight of their day.
Sometimes it’s the only meaningful connection they have.
This GoFundMe is to buy her a one-button coffee machine - not as a luxury, but as a tool for connection, dignity and kindness.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward:
Purchasing the coffee machine
Any accessories needed to make it easy and safe for her to use
If there’s anything left over, it will go toward supporting other small acts of kindness within the village.
This Christmas, your donation isn’t just buying a coffee machine.
It’s buying conversations.
It’s buying connection.
It’s reminding someone that they... and their kindness...matter.
Thank you for helping us turn a simple wish into something that will bless an entire community.
With gratitude,
HumanKind
