We are the Friends of AlBirr (FoAB). We are calling on every heart that beats for justice, dignity and a better future for our Muslim community in the UK.

AlBirr Credit Union is on the verge of making history: a first-of-its-kind, halal-compliant, Community Interest Financial Institution, built by the community and for the community. After years of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, we’ve achieved partial registration with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). But now, we stand at a crossroads.

To move from Mobilisation Phase to Full Registration, we urgently need to raise £60,000 within the next 3 months to build the IT infrastructure and essential systems that will power this ethical institution.

If we miss this deadline, our registration attempt will expire; and we will be forced to start the entire application process all over again, losing momentum, credibility and a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

This is not just a project. This is a movement. A lifeline for families trapped in interest-based systems. A safe space for our youth to save, borrow and grow within the bounds of Shariah. A practical step to reclaim our financial agency and preserve the wealth of our Ummah.
