Dear friends,
A lot of love is needed to address the estimated 1.3 million orphaned and homeless Children of Tanzania.
What you may not know is that “Upendo” in Swahili means LOVE.
Combining LOVE with its best mate compassion is what drives us at Upendo Foundation Australia to make a tremendous difference in the world.
This is our plea for help and an invitation to become part of the Upendo family and share the LOVE.
Every day we volunteer and work tirelessly to provide a safe loving home and quality education for orphaned children in Tanzania and to employ and support our care team at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Today we are renting premises to house our children, which limits our ability to expand and offer support to more children in need. The urgency is that by December our lease expires, meaning we will need to move again - for the fourth time in just ten years. Unsettling for the children and their carers.
Our vision is to continue to provide the essential stability to our children (with mostly unstable backgrounds) and expand our operations to change more lives.
In a radically changing climate and world, we must become self-sustaining.
To do this, we need to purchase land and build our accommodation designed specifically for our children's needs. This will enable us to double the children we can support and begin to grow our food. Poverty is rife in Tanzania with millions of people living on the equivalent of less than $2 US a day.
