Help Us Build a Lifeline for 8,600 People
Donation protected
I am Eric Wheeler, and I will be traveling to Rwanda for a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Alongside ten amazing Thornton Tomasetti colleagues and the organization Bridges to Prosperity (B2P), I’ll be helping to construct a 60-meter suspension bridge over the Akaruruma River in the Kimonyi District of the Southern Province. (The project site GPS coordinates are -2.107100°, 29.860140°.)
This bridge will transform lives and grant approximately 8,600 people in the Kigusa and Kintama communities with safe access to hospitals, schools, and jobs.
We’re not just building a bridge; we’re working hand-in-hand with the local community using materials sourced right from the area. This collaboration is what makes this project truly special.
This trip also includes a visit to a local school that benefits from the bridge, making it safer for students to cross the river and access their education. To support these students and B2P, we’re raising funds to purchase the following items:
- School supplies
- Soccer balls and games
- The tools that are not readily available for the current and future bridge builds
I would appreciate your support. Any money not spent on the above items will be donated directly to B2P.
B2P is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting isolated communities with vital resources such as healthcare, education, and economic opportunities through the construction of trail bridges. In collaboration with local partners and communities, they've successfully built over 600 bridges.
