Honouring the Past. Educating the Future. Creating a Lasting Legacy.

On 18 January 1981, the tragic New Cross Fire occured resulting in fourteen young people losing their lives. The impact of this tragedy was felt across families, communities, and generations, and contintues to be felt today. Yet despite the significance of this event in British history, many people remain unaware of its lasting impact.

The New Cross Fire Foundation (NCFF), established by family members and survivors, is working to change that. We are campaigning to create a permanent Monument that will serve as a place of remembrance, reflection, education, and healing for generations to come.

Our vision is for a landmark Monument in Fordham Park - New Cross, close to 439 New Cross Road, where the tragic event occured, near the existing memorial site and connected to the history of the community and the 1981 People's Day of Action. The Monument will not only honour those who lost their lives and the surviviors - but will also stand as a symbol of resilience, unity, and social justice.
