When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to participate in a week-long Habitat for Humanity build, working side by side with the family who would soon own the home. I took great pride in my work—drywalling an entire bathroom and bedroom myself! It was incredible to see how much a team of dedicated volunteers could accomplish in such a short amount of time, transforming a house from bare studs to almost move-in ready.
That experience left a lasting impression on me, and I’ve always wanted to share it with my own child. Now, I have the opportunity to do just that. My 16-year old daughter and I are joining our Temple for a weekend build with Baja Bound, a wonderful organization that partners with local families just south of our San Diego border. I want my daughter to experience that same sense of fulfillment, teamwork, and community - and to see firsthand the impact that a group of caring people can have on their local region.
We are covering our own room and board, but we are seeking donations to help cover the portion of the total cost of materials that our family is responsible for. Every donation helps us get closer to making this dream a reality. Any support you can offer will help us make a real difference! Will you help us build this home?
Thank you so much for your support!
Hilary
