Imagine taking your child to the cinema… and not worrying if they make noise, need to move around, or just need to be themselves.
For many families, that simple experience isn’t accessible.
At Ngorli Learning Resource Centre, we want to change that.
⸻
Who We Are
Ngorli is a community centre based in Watford, Hertfordshire, supporting local families through:
• Education and tutoring
• Food bank and outreach support
• Community events and safe spaces
• Support for families facing hardship
We exist to create opportunities, inclusion, and connection—especially for those who need it most.
⸻
Our Vision: A Free Sensory Cinema
We’re raising £5,000 to create a small, free community cinema designed especially for children—including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities).
This won’t be a typical cinema.
This will be a space where:
• Children can move around freely
• It’s okay to make noise, stim, and be themselves
• Lighting is soft and sensory-friendly (not pitch black)
• The environment is calm, welcoming, and inclusive
✨ No judgement. No pressure. Just joy.
⸻
What Makes It Special
Each film experience will be themed and immersive.
So instead of just watching a film… children step into it.
For example:
• Finding Nemo → underwater-themed room with calming visuals
• The Lion King → warm tones, nature sounds, cosy seating
• Frozen → soft lights, snow-inspired décor
This creates a magical, engaging environment—especially for children who benefit from sensory experiences.
⸻
What the £5,000 Will Fund
Your support will help us cover:
• Film licensing (so we can legally show films)
• ️ Projector, screen & sound equipment
• Comfortable seating (beanbags, soft chairs, sensory seating)
• Themed décor & sensory-friendly setup
• Local advertising to reach families who need this
• Preparing the space to make it safe and welcoming
Every pound goes towards creating something truly special.
⸻
Why This Matters
Many families with SEN children feel excluded from everyday experiences.
Something as simple as going to the cinema can feel overwhelming or even impossible.
We want to change that.
We want to give children:
• A place where they feel safe
• A place where they feel included
• A place where they can just be… children
And we want to give parents something just as valuable:
peace of mind

How You Can Help
If you can donate—even £5—you are helping us build something that will impact real families in our community.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page could reach someone who can.
Together, we can create a space where every child belongs.
Let’s build a cinema where laughter is welcomed, differences are celebrated, and no child is left out.
Future Plans (if we exceed our goal):
• Weekly themed cinema days
• SEN-specific sessions
• Free snacks for children
• Expansion into holiday programmes
