Support A Dream for the Disabled: Buy a Brick!

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Mkawasi. On behalf of the Mwatate Disability Network, I ask for your support in helping this group achieve their big dream. They are persons living with various forms of disability, some of the best humans I've ever met. They come from Mwatate, a Subcounty in Kenya. My mother is a member of this group. She has lived with blindness for many years. So you see, their journey is close to my heart. Here is their dream -

To create a stream of income for their families so they can live in dignity. How? By building 14 studio units for rent in Mwatate Subcounty.

Why?
Many of the members are tired of the pity, the poverty and the indignity of being considered a bother. With the help of the stronger members, the group will build this dream together. They will rent out these housing units and use the income to feed, educate and care for themselves and their families. And with your support, there will be nothing impossible. So please buy a brick and tell a friend to do the same.

The journey so far:
  • A piece of land has already been acquired for the project in Mwatate, Taita-Taveta County, Kenya.
  • Architectural designs and floor plans already secured.

The journey ahead:
Phase I Fundraising goal - $10,000

What your "brick" will do:
If 1000 of our best friends can each buy a symbolic brick by donating $10 here (you can "buy" 5, 10, 50... bricks!), we will help lay the foundation for this worthy project and see the group take one step towards their dream. From there, we will move on to Phase II, III, IV and V. Let us start with the foundation. We hope to inspire other groups of PWDs to achieve impossible dreams.

Achieving the dream:
No one wants to be locked away and treated as a burden or a curse. Give your support so this group of differently abled mothers, fathers and parents of disabled children can achieve this wonderful dream of dignity and self-reliance. It is possible!
