Help us build a creative hub in Langa

Hey everyone,

We’re Naomi & Emily,

two creatives from Amsterdam and we're teaming up with Vezi, an artist and community builder from Langa, a township just outside Cape Town, to open our very first creative hub.

This hub is built for the next generation of storytellers, designers, musicians, photographers and makers.

A space where young people get the tools, space and support to learn, create and earn. Because talent is everywhere, but access isn’t.

Why we're doing this

At the downsouth. foundation, we believe creativity is a right, not a privilege.

But in communities shaped by systemic exclusion from jobs, education, and infrastructure, opportunities are not equally distributed. In South African townships, emerging talent often lacks the tools, mentorship, and safe spaces to truly grow.

Over the past few years, Vez worked with more than 300 young creatives across South Africa, from content creators and filmmakers to designers and musicians.

What if we could bring them all together under one roof?

And that’s exactly what we’re building.
