Yiddishland California is a non-denominational cultural center and museum created by the nonprofit organization Yiddish Arts and Academics Association of North America (YAAANA), registered in the State of California. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in our programs. Our mission is to expand awareness of the beauty and joy of Yiddishkeit and to preserve and advance Yiddish language and culture internationally, from San Diego to La Paz and beyond.

With your support, Yiddishland has successfully established a cultural center in La Paz, Mexico - a meaningful milestone and a new chapter for Yiddish language and culture in this region.

During our soft opening on December 18, 2025, we marked this moment by hanging the mezuzah and lighting the Chanukkah candles. It was a powerful celebration of Yiddishkayt - far from where it once lived, yet carrying the same living legacy forward.

Alongside this physical space, our traveling talks and virtual programming continue to reach participants around the world and remain central to our nonprofit’s mission.
