My name is Emiliano Lopez, and I’m reaching out during the hardest time of my life. My father, Basilio Lopez, has been detained by ICE and is facing deportation to Brazil.

My dad came to the United States 17 years ago in search of safety and a better life for our family. He has worked tirelessly, paid his taxes, and built a life here. He is a loving father, a dedicated worker, and someone who always gives to others before thinking of himself.

A few weeks ago, our lives changed overnight. ICE detained my dad unexpectedly, and now he is at risk of being sent away from the country he calls home. If he’s deported, our family will be torn apart — and I will lose the person who has been my role model, protector, and guide.

We urgently need legal representation to fight his case. Immigration lawyers are expensive, and without one, his chances of staying here drop drastically. The legal fees alone are $8,000, and our family’s finances have been severely impacted by his detention. He was the main provider, and now we’re struggling just to cover rent, food, and basic bills.
