Help us bring Kayden home
Donation protected
Kayden was born on 8/8/21 at only 1 pound and 13oz at 26 weeks gestation. Throughout the last year, our little boy has been and continues to be stronger than any baby should ever have to be. Going through four pretty major surgeries(three of the four being a G-Tube placement and Tracheotomy and then having NEC(Necrotizing enterocolitis))within the span of his first 6 months of life we’re again facing another high-risk surgery in order to bring our little boy home faster. As of right now, Kayden is vent-dependent because his airways have collapsed enough to need the extra help. This upcoming surgery could potentially get him all the way off of his vent and help him be able to breathe on his own as so many of us do without thinking. Where we were living in Northern Maine, there was no medical anything (such as equipment or personnel). Kayden has bounced around between 4 different hospitals and has been anywhere from 3 to 8 hours away from our home at all times for the last year. With him having a trach, we needed him to go somewhere where he could get the best medical help possible which happened to be all the way in MA. As you can imagine this has completely drained our savings account. With being 8 hours away I finished my degree and chose to give up my apartment in order to stay bedside with Kayden in the rehab he is currently participating in. This was a very difficult decision, but the only logical one. I have been out of work for 4 months now and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to go back as Kayden is in desperate need of having me there with him in order to progress in all of his therapies and overall goals continually. We’re looking to raise enough to help with a security deposit and last month of rent that way we are able to stay afloat when our little boy is finally ready to come home. We appreciate any amount as it all adds up and helps us so much.
