Help Us Bring Hope to Orphans in Congo: Mission of Sowers

Donation protected
Hello friends & anyone who believes in the power of compassion

My name is Divin, and I’m the founder of Mission of Sowers. I was born in Kinshasa, DRC, the eight of ten children. When I was 9, my father passed away. Before he died, he made the painful decision to send me to Ireland in hopes that I’d have a better chance at life. I was adopted into a new family and given opportunities many children back home could only dream of. The truth is, I could have easily ended up in one of the very orphanages we’re now supporting. That reality has never left me. It’s what led me to return, not just in memory, but with purpose.

This July, we’re heading back to Kinshasa, DRC, to visit at least six orphanages and support hundreds of vulnerable children. With your help, we can reach even more.

We’re doing this because we believe in what’s possible when ordinary people step into the gap. We hope this mission becomes a spark. Our prayer is that others will be moved to take their own steps toward service, outreach, and change. If this mission inspires even one more person to take up a cause or respond to need, then it's already multiplying.

WHY WE’RE FUNDRAISING
More than 80% of these children were abandoned not because their parents passed away, but due to extreme poverty, harmful superstitions, and the lasting effects of conflict. Among them are children with albinism, cast out and stigmatised because of age-old beliefs. These children are especially vulnerable to skin-related illnesses due to direct exposure to intense tropical heat.

Every year, we go not only to deliver aid, but to show up again. We locate more neglected orphanages. We don’t just visit; we sow. We plant seeds. We harvest what we planted last year and sow again for the future. That’s why we call this the Mission of the Sowers. It’s a continuous cycle of love, support, and action.

WHAT YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS:
Clothes and shoes in good condition.
Non-perishable food items, including rice, oil, beans, sugar, semolina.
Sanitary packs for young girls going to womanhood.
Medical expenses: many children live with injuries or ongoing health conditions that need attention.
Mattresses, (€30 for a single) so kids don’t have to sleep on concrete floors.
School enrolment: to help fight the rising risk of illiteracy. We try to enrol back school as many orphans as we can afford. It cost about €200 per child just for fees alone.
Sunscreen for children with albinism, to protect against skin damage and disease.
Toys, so children can explore, play, and imagine again.

So far, we’ve already collected over 350kg of toys, clothes, and shoes but we need your help to get the rest: food, hygiene items, medical support, and transport.

GOING BEYOND KINSHASA
In addition to serving orphanages in Kinshasa, we also plan to send a portion of our collected resources to registered local charities in Goma, a region heavily impacted by ongoing conflict and displacement. These trusted partners will ensure your support reaches those in dire need.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
We can’t do this alone. But with your support, we can ensure that every child we meet knows they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.

Thank you for being part of this mission.
