For the last five years, I’ve poured everything I have into building Color Wheel Therapy. Not just as a therapist, but as a Black, LGBTQ, woman who knows what it feels like to grow up without access to real answers and support in relation to mental health. I saw those around me who looked like me struggling in ways I didn’t understand, and I simply wanted to. Until I graduated high school, I never saw or heard of a Black person being a therapist. I wanted to break that barrier for my local community and start a space that would grow with our needs in mental health.
Last year, I launched Yall Need Therapy as an umbrella for our fundraising and community engagement work. Since then, we’ve been able to reach even more people, raise funds to reduce barriers to therapy, and bring mental health education to thousands online. Together, Color Wheel Therapy and Yall Need Therapy have completed hundreds of consultations, served over 100 clients, and inspired a movement for healing that is rooted in our community’s needs.
Looking ahead to 2026, I aim to expand our reach, particularly in Houston, TX, allowing for more hands-on community engagement. This fundraiser will help us hire administrative and creative support, expand access to therapy for Black families, and provide more community education and events. With your support, we can reach more people, deepen our impact, and possibly expand to new states where this work is needed most. Every donation helps us bring healing home and build a future where mental health care is accessible, stigma-free, and culturally grounded.
