On January 29, 2016, we got a call to foster a newborn baby girl - Kamila “Mila” Rodriguez. She couldn’t leave the hospital until a safe, temporary home was found for her. Over the next year we fell in love with her and fought to keep her. On January 11, 2017, we were named her Primary Managing Conservators, which took her out of the CPS system. However, her future with us is still uncertain. We need to go back to court and obtain the right to adopt her.


Our daughter, Skylar, age 15, has been a true blessing in Mila's life. Despite the fact that Skylar is a teenager, she does her daily chores each evening with Mila's "help." They sing together, play together and make all kinds of racket and messes together. It has been two years now and we are a bonded family. Both girls mean the world to us . . . and to each other!!
