I believe in the freedom we have as Americans. A dangerous trend has threatened the everyday freedom of the common person. Unchecked government overreach has allowed a pervasive invasion of privacy to exist in our area with the installation of Flock ALPR cameras.
These cameras automatically record the make, model, and license plate numbers of every vehicle passing. Despite assurances these images are secure and destroyed, numerous researchers are finding they are quite vulnerable to simple attacks.
These license plate readers create a digital record of your free travel in Clarksville and Montgomery county.
In the interest of freedom of information, I have submitted a records request to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office of Tennessee with electronic delivery. The county has decided to assess a fee of $250 for the retrieval of this information.
Today, I'm asking for help to make these records transparent by raising the $250 fee required for the records to be released.
