Our Dream of Marriage and One Blended Family: Help Us Unite Across the Border from Mexico to Los Angeles

Hi, I’m Joseph, a single dad living in Los Angeles with my three wonderful children: my 17-year-old daughter, my fun-loving 15-year-old son, and my sweet 10-year-old daughter.
In Mexico, the woman I love with all my heart—my fiancée—is raising her three amazing kids: her thoughtful 17-year-old daughter, her lively 16-year-old daughter, and her curious 11-year-old son.
We met online and quickly realized we had found something real and rare. What started as long conversations turned into deep love—not just for each other, but for each other’s children too. We’ve shared stories about our kids’ daily lives, their dreams, their struggles, and their joys. Our six children have started connecting across the miles: swapping favorite songs and games, laughing over video calls, and talking excitedly about becoming one big family someday.
We want to get married and build a life together in Los Angeles. We dream of a home filled with the beautiful chaos of six kids—morning routines, family dinners where stories from Mexico and California mix, backyard playtime, helping with homework, and creating new traditions as brothers and sisters. I want to be there for her children as they grow, and she wants the same for mine. After everything we’ve each been through as single parents, this feels like the second chance we’ve both been hoping for: to spend the rest of our lives together as a united family.
But turning that dream into reality is incredibly expensive. The immigration process to bring my fiancée and her three children from Mexico to the United States on a K-1 fiancé visa so we can marry and live together involves many steps and significant costs. Even after saving as much as we can and being careful with every dollar, the total adds up to far more than we can cover on our own.
Here is a transparent breakdown of the main costs we’re facing:
• Government filing and visa fees: Approximately $2,300–$2,800 (includes Form I-129F petition at $675, DS-160 visa application at $265 per person, and Form I-485 adjustment of status after marriage at around $1,440). These are required USCIS and State Department fees.
• Medical examinations: $150–$400 per person (required panel physician exams in Mexico for my fiancée and each of the three children).
• Legal assistance and document preparation: $2,000–$5,000 (optional but highly recommended for a smooth process with children involved—translations, forms, and guidance to avoid delays or mistakes).
• Travel costs: $2,000–$4,000+ (one-way flights or ground transportation from Mexico for four people, plus any required trips for interviews or initial setup).
• Setting up a larger home in Los Angeles: $3,000–$6,000 (extra furniture, beds, school supplies, and basic household items so all eight of us—two adults and six kids—have a comfortable, stable place to start our new life together).
These expenses are real and unavoidable as we follow the legal path the right way. The distance has been so hard. Every video call ends with heavy hearts and “I miss you”s that linger. The kids ask when they’ll finally meet in person and live under one roof. Holidays and birthdays feel incomplete without everyone together. We just want to close this chapter of separation and start our life as a married couple and blended family.
We’re committed to doing this honestly, legally, and with love guiding every step. If our story touches you—if you’ve ever felt the ache of being apart from someone you love deeply, or if you believe in the power of families coming together across borders—please consider helping us. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to the day we can marry, welcome her and the kids to Los Angeles, and finally build the home we’ve all been dreaming of.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, for caring, and for any support you can offer. Please share our story if it moves you. Your kindness could help us start the rest of our lives together.
With gratitude,
Joseph & Family ❤️
