Our family is asking for help to raise $5,000 to pay the retainer to bring in Dr. Suzan E. Marshall, DO, C-MDI and expert witness in Medicolegal Death Investigation with Plan B Forensics LLC. She will thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding my niece Katelynn’s death. This review is our only path toward clear answers for her six children and everyone who loved her.

Katelynn was reported by her partner to have “fallen down the stairs” on Friday, September 20th. According to his statement, she acted confused afterward. Despite that, no medical care was sought for more than 48 hours. They were staying in a motel at the time. Management reviewed all available security footage during her stay. No footage showed Katelynn, or anyone, falling down the outdoor stairwell.

However, footage from Saturday around 11 p.m. shows Katelynn being assisted down the stairs by her partner. She appeared unable to walk on her own. Yet she still was not taken for medical evaluation until Sunday, September 22nd.

When she was finally checked into the hospital, she arrived with no phone, no identification, and only the clothes she was wearing, clothes that were not hers. She was covered in extensive bruising from head to toe, including bruising between her toes. She was unable to form sentences, didn’t seem to recognize herself, and could not stay conscious.

Doctors admitted her directly to the ICU. She was diagnosed with multiple strokes, severe brain swelling, and bleeding at the brain stem. This is where it gets hazy and we need an expert to look through all of my niece's files and stay to determine the real reasoning behind such medical trauma which eventually led to Katelynn’s passing.

These details have left our family with overwhelming questions that have never been answered. We have been told repeatedly that without a specialized medical review, there is no way to understand the full picture of what happened to her in those critical hours and days.

Dr. Suzan E. Marshall will go back through every detail: records, scans, timelines, injuries, and all available evidence. Her work could finally give us the clarity we have sought since losing Katelynn. Every dollar raised goes directly to securing her expertise.

Katelynn was the mother of six children who deserve to know the truth about what happened to their mom. Our family, her friends, and her community all deserve those answers too.
