Uncle Brian has worked hard his entire life and was proud to own his mobile home free and clear in a small community outside Tampa. But when Hurricane Milton tore through Florida in October 2024, his home suffered severe structural damage, leaving him in an unsafe living situation. His roof and attached carport have been badly damaged and need repair.

He trusted FEMA to help, just as they claim to do in times of crisis. He got three professional repair estimates, with the lowest coming in just under $20,000. This week, FEMA responded with a devastating reality check—a mere $750 in aid.

To make matters worse, his mobile park management company has issued eviction notices to him and some of his neighbors for not completing repairs fast enough—even though Uncle Brian has always paid his lot rent on time.

Uncle Brian is retired and battling Huntington’s Chorea, an autoimmune disease, which severely impacts his mobility and makes it difficult for him to manage this crisis alone. He simply wants to fix his home and stay in the only place he knows as home.
