Hi, my name is Yulia Semeniuk. My daughter and I live in Sun Prairie, WI but my parents, aunt, brother and his family, cousin and her family, and many other relatives live in Rivne, Ukraine. My 69-year-old mother, Lyubov Semeniuk, is a full-time caretaker of my 69-year-old father, Yuri Semeniuk, who has a mental illness, and my 92-year-old aunt, Lidia Semeniuk, who is blind from glaucoma, hard of hearing, and has dementia. My mom is a 24/7 caretaker of my bedridden aunt, and my dad usually takes so many medications that knock him out that he stays in bed most of the time. My family has not been able to go to the bomb shelter due to having two ill people who are not mobile. My sister-in-law, Kristina Baryshko, and my 2 yr old niece, Ariana Semeniuk, are the only ones who made it safely to Lithuania. Many of my friends in the United States have been asking me how they can help and stated that they would only donate directly to a family and not any big organizations. Thus, I have created this GoFundMe page; the funds will be used to help my family and relatives in Ukraine and my sister-in-law and my 2 yrs old niece, who are refugees in Lithuania now. Moreover, I will be donating funds to the volunteer center, Narodnij Dim in Rivne, Ukraine (https://www.facebook.com/volonterrivne/?_rdr). I have a friend who works at the mayor's office in Rivne, Ukraine. They have already assisted me in transferring some funds to the volunteer center, which has been incredible in local support efforts by setting up bomb shelters and helping displaced people with food, medicine, or any other needs. Research shows that the best way to support people in the war zone is to let the local people decide what their needs are.
