Yahweh is God is a home for 21 children in Uganda. The children are all orphans from poor backgrounds. Some were mistreated and abused, some were abandoned, and some lost their parents to death or disease.

We have raised more than $3000 so far, but it was already spent on shoes, school supplies, food and basic needs. Now their guardians are in financial trouble again. Everything in Jinja, Uganda is expensive, and there are very few opportunities for work. The guardians, Faruke and Zephyr, are working outside jobs doing things like Uber driving, but it is not steady work nor does it pay much. If they get work, they might make only $25 for an entire day. These are two men in their thirties with the biggest hearts ever, but no real way to make a sustainable amount of money to care for all the children.

The children are so sweet and well behaved. They never complain and are grateful for the safety of their home and two meals a day. They range from age 2 to 18.

Here is what we are raising money for right now:

School Fees: School fees are only around $5 per child per term, but there are three terms. Plus the children need a lunch since they are gone from 7am to around 5pm (they have to walk miles each way to school, even the little ones.) Lunch is around $5 per child per term for just a cup of porridge, more if they want beans and rice. So $10 per child per term times 21 children times three terms equals $630 for 2026. There are also school supplies that must be bought each term as well.

Food: The children eat mostly beans, rice, porridge and squash. Very rarely do they get a treat, although last time we raised money for them they got pineapple and watermelon. If we can raise $1000 that would cover basic commodity food for a few months. Any more would go towards more nutritious items like fruits and vegetables.

If you would like to donate specifically to school, food or something else, please let me know and your money will go there in your name. Otherwise, it will go into the general fund for what is most necessary.

We are working on long term plans for a more sustainable future, but right now we are just trying to stay afloat. If you have any ideas or would like to volunteer to visit the orphanage, you would be welcomed with open arms.
