Help Tyler Aid Sacha Wasi Tribe
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tyler and as I’ve shared previously I’ve been working hard to support an indigenous Kichwa tribe from Ecuador known as the Sacha Wasi. They have been very badly struggling to maintain their traditions and culture from the ever looming presence and effects of modernization which has wreaked havoc on their society. A wedge has been slowly driven between their youth and ancient traditions and culture, slowly snuffing out the magic and traditions of a very beautiful group of people. The population of the Sacha Wasi is slowly dwindling as more and more of their people are moving away from the tribe to near by cities to seek out the bling and opportunities that modernization presents.
The Sacha Wasi work with a variety of sacred plant medicines and host ceremonies and retreats as they share their beautiful magic and ways of life with the world, supporting individuals seeking deep healing from a plethora of traumas, addictions and dis-ease.
Personally, I’ve found incredible healing from my own traumas and hard addiction through the support of plant medicines and indigenous wisdom. It’s not just the plant medicines that potentiate the deep healing but also the compliment of sacred traditions and relationship these indigenous societies hold with Pachamama and the greater Universe that act as a powerful anecdote to the discontent and suffering that lies within.
Following the death of a beloved teacher (who was living with the Sacha Wasi for four years) I was asked to step in and do my best to continue the work my dear friend had started in supporting the Sacha Wasi people. My teacher was able to set the tribe up in a way that allowed them to scale out their retreats in a manner that allowed them to generate financial support in ways they have never experienced. The tribe was able access a deep sense hope for their society’s future in a way they haven’t experienced for generations. The unexpected death of my dear friend and teacher shattered that hope and left the tribe in a deep state of grief and despair that has been felt on a soul level.
It has been a difficult road traversing the many obstacles such as language and culture barriers, being located so far away from their homeland, and calling upon others for guidance and support. There have also been other entities/people who have honed in on the desperation experienced by the tribe identifying an opportunity to take advantage of a very desperate and vulnerable group of humans. Due to these very specific challenges it’s important for me to make periodic visits to Sacha Wasi to strengthen my connection with the tribe to build trust and relationship. To be down there onsite also allows me to witness first hand where support and focus needs to be applied in the most optimal way. Tending to the land, maintenance, the building of new structures, guest support, and educating the tribe on how to operate and manage a business are some of the main objectives. By being able to visit the tribe I can continue to provide support in ways that will be long lasting, setting the tribe up for success that will be felt and carried for many years down the road. There is only so much I’m able to do located so far away here in the States. Believe me, if I didn’t have a little one of my own, my partner and I would have moved down there many months ago to support the tribe and their retreats onsite.
As I have my own personal responsibilities as a father and husband who has to support my family’s basic needs, I don’t have the financial resources to travel down to Sacha Wasi for this much needed and long over due visit.
This is the first time I’ve ever created a gofundme like this to generate funds for my own personal needs. It is a growth edge for me to seek out this kind of help on such a public platform but I’m leaning into the fear of judgment and discomfort in order to better help my friends in Ecuador who are so very deeply struggling.
If you know me, you know that I work hard to stand behind my word and show up as authentically as possible for my fellow brothers and sisters and the community at large. If you have the ability to donate to this important cause it would be so greatly appreciated, not just by me but also by the Sacha Wasi. Any little bit helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this message
