The Northeast L.A. Local (NELo) of the Los Angeles Tenants Union (LATU) is fundraising to support two of our members in Glassell Park, Gloria Sanchez and Juan Jose Torres. Gloria and Juan’s landlord is trying to evict them ILLEGALLY by falsely claiming that his son will be moving into their unit. Gloria and Juan are vital, longtime members of the Northeast L.A. community, having lived here for almost thirty years. They are also both DISABLED and have suffered years’ worth of illegal rent increases and harassment from their landlord.

Please help us raise funds to pay for Gloria and Juan’s legal fees. One of our best solidarity attorneys can take the case, but we have to gather $1,200 to make that possible. PLEASE DONATE WHATEVER YOU CAN TO KEEP GLORIA AND JUAN IN THEIR HOME.

Any funds beyond the target amount will be kept to support other members of the L.A. Tenants Union with legal fees and/or other urgent needs.

My name is Julian and I'm an organizer with the Los Angeles Tenants Union. I started this fundraiser on behalf of the Los Angeles Tenants Union, and all of the proceeds go to the Union. Funds matching the total raised for this fundraiser have already been disbursed by the Tenants Union to help the affected tenants, Gloria and Juan. Gloria and Juan are members of the same Local of LATU as I am—the Northeast L.A. Local (NELo).
