Troop 557 of Apple Valley, CA has been a pillar in our community for over 45 years. My nephew Andrew, who is 17, has been a dedicated scout for 13 years. The troop has given countless boys and girls the chance to develop character, leadership, and lifelong friendships through outdoor adventures, community service, and skills training.
On January 11, 2026, Troop 557 faced a devastating setback. Their storage shed, which held all of their equipment, was vandalized and everything was stolen. The troop had just saved up and purchased a large amount of new gear, only to have it all taken away. Among the items stolen were:
- 2 person kayak & paddles
- 4 camp stoves/ 5 large propane/ 8 small propane/ 4 propane lanterns/ 2 lantern stands
- Camping utensils/ 6 Dutch ovens/ 6 cast iron pans/ 4 pots
- Blackstone flat top stove/ 4 burner stove
- 2 XL ice chests/ 4 drink igloos
- 2 American Flags & poles
- 8 2-person tents / 8 sleeping bags
- 8' folding table & 2 benches/ 6 chairs/ 3 cots
- 9 fishing poles/ 4 tackle boxes/ propelling gear
- 15 hiking backpacks
- Tarps/ hiking sticks/ compasses/ mess kits and more...
This loss has left the troop without the essential tools they need for their activities and upcoming trips.
The funds raised will help Troop 557 replace their stolen gear so they can continue their outdoor adventures and participate in the events that the scouts have worked so hard to attend. Your support will allow these kids to remain active in the community, learn valuable skills, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Please consider helping Troop 557 recover from this loss—your generosity will make a real difference for these scouts and their future.
