Help Triet Rebuild his Salon in Vietnam

Help Triet Rebuild His Life!
Now T's new apartment needs furniture! It's empty. He's getting sorted. I love how there's a smile on T's face!
His health expenses from the stroke and also the vet's costs for the dogs still need paid. The divorce through the embassy must begin.
T's slowly getting himself together. He misses all of you so much right now.
We're not posting images of the new place for protection. T might share in private conversation. Say hi to him when you have a moment.
Original post:
Triet is in Vietnam and needs to relocate in-country there, setting up a new business location, which costs money.

Moving to the mainland into a new house and starting a new salon there cost money. It's not safe for T to live on a small island where his ex-husband lives.

Medical expenses for himself and his two dogs take all his non-crucial expenses right now. T had a stroke after the marriage ended and their joint accounts were stolen. Any bit helps! He needs to pay back his stroke bills. Thankfully it's not as high as if he were in the U.S.

Again, I met T in 1995 at Freshman Orientation. We learned how to navigate DC Metro transportation together and he was my dance partner many times. He doesn't ask for help. This is hard for him!

T never asks for anything! He's always the first to help others. So many of us have the joy of knowing Thierry Triet "T" Phan for decades.

Triet's husband stole all of their community property when they separated. T's health suffers from this as well. He has medical expenses. He really needs our help! He's never asked for any help before this. He was the first person I met at GMU, so that's a long time to never need anything.

I’m Tracy, and I’m writing on behalf of my dearest friend, Triet, who can't write one himself in Vietnam. Many of you know Triet from George Mason University, Tracks, Dupont Circle, gatherings around Washington, DC, Boston, Richmond, nail salons, ballet performances, dog parks, and so many other places! He always has a warm smile and a friendly hug.

For 15 years, Triet dedicated himself to his marriage, pouring his heart, time, and money into building a life and future with his husband. But everything came crashing down when his husband left him—abruptly and without any financial or emotional support—leaving him stranded in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

Let’s come together to show Triet that even in the darkest times, he is not alone.

Triet's Story:
Triet’s life revolved around love, trust, and shared dreams. He supported his husband’s business ventures, including a scuba diving company and other investments, always believing they were building a future together. But when his husband walked away, Triet was left with nothing—no savings, no safety net, and no way to secure even the basics of life.

On top of this betrayal, Triet faces the daily struggle of caring for his two beloved dogs, the only family he has left. His dogs have been his source of comfort through this dark time, but they, too, depend on him for survival. In Phu Quoc, finding work in his beauty career has been nearly impossible, especially given the limitations of his current situation.

As if the emotional and financial strain weren’t enough, Triet recently suffered what he believes was a stroke. For months, he couldn’t walk without assistance and was hospitalized, battling both physical and emotional pain. While he has fought hard to regain his mobility, the effects of this health crisis linger, making his journey even harder.

Why This Matters:
Triet’s story is not just about heartbreak; it’s about resilience, survival, and the hope of a better tomorrow. He is reaching out now because he has exhausted every other option. He’s asking for help—not just to cover his living expenses and medical care but to find stability, rebuild his life, and regain the dignity that was taken from him.

This campaign is also for anyone who has ever felt the sting of betrayal, the fear of starting over, or the isolation of being abandoned. If you’ve ever faced a situation like Triet’s—or if you simply believe in helping someone rise from the ashes of their struggles—your support can make all the difference.

How You Can Help:
Your donations will go directly toward:
1. Covering Triet’s essential living expenses, including food and rent.
2. Providing care for his two dogs, who have been his lifeline through this ordeal.
3. Supporting his ongoing medical needs and recovery from his suspected stroke.
4. Giving him the time and resources to find work in his beauty career and regain stability.

Call to Action:
Triet is in a fight to rebuild his life after losing everything. Your kindness, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign, can be the beacon of hope he desperately needs. Even a small contribution can make a tremendous impact in helping Triet take his next steps toward a better future.

From the bottom of his heart, Triet thanks you for your compassion and generosity. With your help, he can find the strength to rebuild—not just for himself, but for his two dogs who depend on him and for the future he deserves.
