Help Trevor’s Battle with Brain & Spine Cancer
Donation protected
On behalf of our entire family, we’re raising funds to support Trevor White in his battle against brain cancer.
Trevor’s journey began in 2024 with unexplained symptoms—just as he was training for his first marathon. In true Trevor fashion, he pushed through and completed the Vancouver Marathon. A scan a week later revealed a rare grade 3 brain tumor. He immediately underwent surgery at Royal Columbian Hospital and follow-up radiation through BC Cancer. His recovery was remarkable—he returned to work, stayed active, and was his witty self again. After surgery, he said, “They removed the tumor but my humor isn’t going anywhere. Be back soon!”
In April 2025, new unexplained symptoms emerged. After multiple ER visits, Trevor was hospitalized in May. He was diagnosed in June with leptomeningeal disease - a condition where cancer spreads to the brain lining and spinal fluid. It affects about 1% of cancer patients and is labelled as a life-limiting disease because it is especially hard to detect and treat.
Despite the odds, Trevor has responded well to targeted therapy. He regained his mobiity and spirit and is now living at home. Still, doctors have explained that cancer adapts to these treatments over time—so staying ahead of it will require new options.
This fundraiser is about giving Trevor—and others with brain cancer and leptomeningeal disease—real hope for improvement. He’s currently enrolled in BC Cancer’s Personal OncoGenomics (POG) program, which offers whole genome sequencing for rare cancers. This may lead to additional targeted therapies, however, these are not always covered by B.C.'s Medical Service Plan (MSP). We’re also exploring care in the U.S. and beyond, where new therapies and trials are underway. While our family is doing everything we can, we recognize Trevor would benefit from additional financial support to access every possible option. Cancer care can cost tens of thousands per month when pursuing treatments, medications, or clinical trials.
Your donation goes directly toward Trevor’s care, travel, and recovery. Funds are held in a family-managed account and used solely for his treatment. Any remaining funds would be donated to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation and BC Cancer. If you’d like to support in other ways, please reach out. This is not just a fight against cancer—it’s about LIVING with it.
We’ll be sharing updates here. Thank you.
