Support Trena Thomas After Devastating Losses

Donation protected
Life for my sweet sister, Trena Thomas, has not been an easy one; however, the last two years have been especially devastating.

On July 25, 2023, around 4:00 a.m., in Fort Worth, Texas. the house in which she lived caught fire. Trena was asleep in the bedroom while her husband, Bobby, had fallen asleep on the couch while watching television. Trena managed to call 911 and tell firefighters where she and her husband were in the home. Her husband died, and Trena spent the next six weeks in the Parkland Burn Center in Dallas, Texas. It took over a year for her to recover. Our mother passed away in November 2023, at the age of 90. Although her passing was anticipated it was just another layer of grief to be dealt with.

Not long before she was to move into her home, she was involved in a car accident, which was not her fault, and totaled her truck. Due to injuries she suffered in the car accident, she dealt with a lot of pain and required medical treatment and physical therapy. She had to purchase a new car, which was an unexpected expense. Over the last year, her eldest son, Brandon, started showing a decline in his health. He had pneumonia multiple times, had difficulty walking, talking, swallowing, and gripping objects. He was diagnosed in November of 2024 with Myotonic Dystrophy, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy that is genetic and fatal. On May 31, 2025, Brandon passed away because of this disease at the age of 45. Trena said, "No Mother should ever have to bury her child.".

Trena's home was restored; however, there were unexpected expenses due to problems that could not be seen from the surface. Her property taxes almost tripled and the insurance on her home also increased. She has recently been diagnosed with COPD due to the extensive damage to her lungs caused by the fire. Brandon and his eldest daughter (age 14) had moved in with her to help with expenses; however, due to his illness he had been unable to work. This has caused a great financial burden. Now Trena will be raising her granddaughter.

We are fundraising to help Trena cover her medical expenses, increased living costs, memorial expenses, and other unexpected expenses that have arisen due to these tragic events.
