Help Travois Village Residents Fight Back Against Unfair Rent Hikes:

Hello, my name is Kristen Jordan, and I’m a concerned community member in Missoula, Montana. I’m reaching out on behalf of our neighbors in Travois Village, a mobile home community now facing crushing rent and fee increases that threaten their ability to stay housed.

Many of the families and individuals living in Travois are already struggling to make ends meet—working low-wage jobs, living on fixed incomes, raising young children, or navigating life with disabilities. Despite this, the out-of-state corporate owner, Oakwood Properties of Texas, continues to raise rents and fees year after year. Residents just survived a major increase last year. Now, they’re facing yet another hike that will push monthly costs to over $800, an amount that is simply unaffordable for most.

These are people who have called Travois home for years, some for decades. They’ve built lives, friendships, and community here. But that is now at risk.

We’re raising funds to support these residents as they organize, secure legal representation, and explore the possibility of purchasing the property themselves. This is a grassroots fight to protect affordable housing in Missoula and push back against the predatory practices that are displacing low-income communities across the country.
