My name is Mark.

Like most of us, I have watched pictures on TV with increasing horror of desperate people in Ukraine - our near neighbours in Europe - forced to leave their homes, their land, their husbands,

their fathers, their elderly, to seek safety in other lands to the west. Often these people have had a long journey in the cold with few, if any personal possessions. At the time of writing over one million refugees have been received by Poland alone. Some of our Central European friends are doing astonishing work trying to assimilate this tidal wave of humanity. I personally know of people who are opening up their homes to accept desperate needy strangers - refugees.

This is why I have decided to gather together a group of like minded individuals who want to help AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE. My friend Matteo and I will be driving to the Ukrainian border, in our cars. We will be joined by my friend Gerard who will come from Lugano Switzerland, plus two of his colleagues.

We intend to provide a free transport service to vulnerable individuals or discreet family groups, from refugee reception centres on the border, to any nominated address in Western Europe, where they can be received by relatives, friends or other hosts. These journeys could be upto 2000km, and would require overnight accommodation en route.

In the first place, we will be self funding - ferries, fuel, overnight accommodation for ourselves and refugees(if required). We would also help refugees buy clothes/toiletries/other personal items, if required, to see them on their way. The budget for one round trip is approximately £1000/£1200.

Our Swiss friends have sought funding in their home land, but Matteo and I would be very glad to receive any financial help with costs, so that we may make multiple round trips. I hope to make at least two round trips this month, and depending on the situation, to repeat again next month.
