Help Youth Experiencing Homelessness - New Dream Classroom
Donation protected
Dear Friend of Mondays at the Mission,
We have exciting news! Mondays at the Mission is building a brand-new DREAM CLASSROOM for the youth living at the homeless shelter! Will you accept this invitation to join our donor wall and become an official sponsor of the brand-new DREAM CLASSROOM?
By supporting "Mondays at the Mission," you're investing in the futures of young people who deserve a chance to thrive.
As you know, Skid Row is one of the most challenging neighborhoods in our country, often described as a “hell on Earth”. Imagine our students who every time they step outside are surrounded by dilapidated tents, where the air is heavy with desperation, and where the streets are fraught with danger at every turn.
For a child, Skid Row is not just a place of poverty; it's a battleground for survival. The sights and sounds of suffering are inescapable, with addiction, violence, and despair lurking around every corner. It's a place where innocence is quickly overshadowed by the harsh realities of life on the streets, leaving children vulnerable to the traumas of homelessness and hopelessness. In this unforgiving environment, the need for support, guidance, and opportunity is more urgent than ever.
That's why "Mondays at the Mission" is so crucial—we offer a ray of hope in the darkness, providing children with a lifeline to a better future despite the daunting challenges they face. Our students deserve an uplifting space, that can transport them away from Skid Row!
However, we need your help to make this vision a reality. The funds from this campaign will go directly towards shaping this brand-new DREAM CLASSROOM space that will serve as the heart of the "Mondays at the Mission" program. This dedicated room will provide a safe, welcoming environment where the teenagers can learn, grow, nurture their creativity, and connect with mentors who believe in their potential.
Here is what we are hoping to build:
- Technology - projector, microphone system, monitor, printer and smart board
- Teaching materials
- Furnish and design
- A performance stage platform
- Art supplies and journals for writing
- Musical instruments
- Storage cabinets and snack surplus
PROGRESS REPORT: So far, we have repainted the walls thanks to a material and labor donation from Sherwin Williams Paint.
Your donation to our GoFundMe campaign will directly support the construction of this vital classroom and ensure that "Mondays at the Mission" can continue to impact lives for years to come.
Together, we can provide them with the opportunities and support they need to rewrite their stories and build brighter tomorrows. This DREAM CLASSROOM will send the message to our students that they have not been forgotten that they matter, and that society/community cares about them and what they are going through.
In the decade+ that I have volunteered at Mondays at the Mission, I have never asked for a single financial donation. WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW MORE THAN EVER.
On behalf of the students we serve, THANK YOU for making a direct, concrete difference in a child’s life!
With deep gratitude,
The Mondays at the Mission Team

*Note: Mondays at the Mission is a 100% volunteer inspired program. The funds raised from this campaign will go 100% towards the new classroom and not towards any individual, volunteer, or salary.
