Help Trans Woman Live Safely in Nigeria
Donation protected
Hey Family,
My name is Kim and I am raising funds to help with my housing, feeding and school bills as I round up my final year from theatre and film arts from university of Jos. I am a trans woman who started to trend in my town because of my current profile picture on Facebook and because of this it attracted a lot of hate and has caused a lot of fights with my family which has resulted to being cut off from financial.
I run a pastry business from home but with my final year it’s been so hard to concentrate on business so I have not been able to operate. I’ve been attacked, I keep receiving death threats and it has lead me to having a lot of anxiety. I have my final year project that needs funding or I’ll fail. I sleep hungry most nights and can’t afford to even transport myself to school because of the distance from my house. I’m raising $3,000 to support my school bills, housing expenses, food, transportation, self care and mental health therapy and my business needs.
As a trans woman living in one of the most transphobic and homophonic countries Nigeria, I am an a pastry chef/ entrepreneur and it has been really traumatizing for me. I haven’t had the privilege of being part of a community or family of people who affirm my nature and show up to care and support me. I see these funds serving as a resource to help me get back to my feet with ease and support my business, Arewahotsauce kitchen.
I appreciate all your donations as I find safety and finish school. My heart is filled with gratitude so far. Thank you. I hope you can share my story with the community.
