Hi there, we’re Ren and Dimitri, very tiny-scale trans farmers trying to make things work, focusing on heritage livestock breed preservation and both working day jobs to make ends meet.
We’ve experienced housing instability for the last few years and recently have started working with some friends to look for a long-term place to land and farm. In the meantime, however, our current land lease is next door to an aggressively transphobic, hostile neighbor who has been consistently targeting us, increasing from misgendering, insults, and veiled threats to directly tearing down our fencing, endangering our livestock. We have been contacted by another individual in legal proceedings with this neighbor who has also been harassed, escalating to the point of assault. This individual has also expressed to us that despite pending court procedures and anti-harassment orders, the neighbor in question has refused to stop or tons down his harassment, continuing to escalate in the face of pending trials.
This harassment has reached the point of essentially stalking us - he is aware what car is ours and when we leave, and our regular schedule for caring for the animals so that he can prowl our property when we can’t see him there. He has waited at the apron of our driveway for us to pass by and has previously trespassed by circumventing the gate.
We are terrified for the safety of our animals above all - they are in an area that is not easily visible where we live, which this neighbor is aware of, and they are everything we have. We live with very meager means and put everything we can into our animals - they are everything we’ve invested in monetarily and emotionally. It is very clear to us that we need to get out NOW.
We have been offered a possible interim space just down the road while we search for our forever home and farm, which we are waiting for a confirmation on, but we plan to move fast and get out as painlessly as possible, so we need to start preparing and gathering ourselves immediately.
We’ve found a lot of love in this community and tried to give it back in full measure, and we don’t want to leave it - we successfully ran the fundraiser to Save Gray Fox Farm, shared food and love and grief, supported others as best we can, and now we’re asking for help for finding safety and security ourselves. We are asking for assistance with moving costs, deposits, a storage unit, covering time off for moving, and material expenses to set up temporary coops, fencing, etc. at our interim location.
Thank you so sincerely for any and all support.
