Help Tracy recover from a rollover accident

Tracy and her son were involved in a rollover accident in the area, and she broke her neck yet survived. She’s trying to relocate to Marquette so she can be closer to local rehabilitation services from after her surgery, which fused parts of her spine together. In her own words, Tracy describes the ordeal as, “the worst thing [she’s] ever been through.” She explained to me, “The doctors at Marquette General said I am very lucky to be alive and not quadriplegic. Many others with my neck fracture have not walked away. I had a spinal neck fusion done at C2-C3 and it was completely disconnected from my spine. I now have 2 plates and 10 screws holding everything together.”

Tracy and her almost 2-year old son, Angelo, are staying at the Cedar Motor Inn on US-41 in Marquette. They found themselves with nothing, apart from the few items they could salvage from the vehicle. Her sister, Yvonne, flew here from Florida to help care for Angelo while Tracy is unable to. Yvonne had the unexpected travel expenses associated with getting here, and now she’s a caregiver for her nephew and sister until she can heal to go back to work, and Yvonne can return to her family in Florida. Tracy is searching for a place to live, and she has decided she wants to live here because she is so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from this community. She’s fully aware of the cost to rent a new apartment, find an affordable and safe mode of transportation for herself and her son, and hopefully be able to work after 8 weeks of rehabilitation.

I learned of this family’s situation when Yvonne messaged me about some toddler boy clothes I had listed for sale in the marketplace on Facebook. I gave her what I had for free and wanted to do what I could to connect them with help from the community.
