Help The Pachamama Project fight period poverty

The Pachamama Project is charity growing a network of volunteers around the UK to make and distribute reusable sanitary pads to refugees and vulnerable people who deal with period poverty.

500 million women around the world experience period poverty and are unable to afford or access sanitary products. This often leads to the use of rags, socks or tissue which are ineffective and can cause infections as well as having long term effects on gender inequality as girls drop out of school and women miss work.

Our growing network of over 2000 sewers have now made over 100,000 pads supporting over 13,000 people out of period poverty. We are distributing pads to women, girls and people who menstruate in 10 countries and counting including Lebanon, Uganda, Pakistan, the USA and the UK.

Other projects involve mass collections of donations of adult and children’s clothes, blankets, and toys which we send to the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon; a sew group in the UK for asylum seekers; distribution of disposable products and research. All our projects have the aim of ending period poverty, breaking down the stigma, building community and sustainability.

We are determined to make sure that finding safe, sanitary products is not yet another challenge for people in very difficult circumstances by getting our pads to the people that need them the most.

We are extremely grateful for any contributions either monetary or through volunteering and we welcome all of your support.
