Help towards costs for hospital visits and overnight stays
Donation protected
Hi my name is Frankie and I'm raising money to help fund hospital trips and overnight hotel stays (when needed) for me and lost wages for both of us whilst my 18yr old son Rowan attends Derriford hospital in Plymouth for his appointments. If i can't find cover for work this may mean very expensive taxi fares to help reduce infection risks by going on public transport.
Unfortunately Rowan had a freak accident on his first day of a new job within 2 hours of being there and chopped all his fingers and thumb off his left hand whilst using a chop saw!
The amazing surgeons spent 8+ hours reattaching his thumb, index and middle fingers and at the moment they are doing well and seem to have taken well. He then had further surgery to patch up the stubs which involved a skin graft from his leg and may need further surgery in the very near future.
Unfortunately the ring and pinky fingers that were put on ice were too risky to reattach due to lack of blood vessels due to all fingers being severed.
Rowan will need many visits to Derriford to see the plastic surgery team and then in 6 weeks for physio.
We are also currently homeless and in a hostel through no fault of our own which makes life even harder.
I do work but the financial toll will be huge as due to my own health problems I only work part time.
Rowan has been so positive throughout all of this and is so positive that he will have a good future. He loved motorcross and will have to have modifications made to his bike as he won't be able to use his clutch fingers for sometime and was hoping to do his motorbike test to gain him some independence, this may have to change to driving lessons instead , we just don't know.
Rowan also wants to set up a social media account to help other young amputees, which is utterly amazing.
